Since 2013, GPSA’s funding model has been tied to the Commonwealth grant for peaks under the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program. With demand for support rising substantially through COVID, which concurrently put the Commonwealth health budget under unprecedented pressure, it soon became apparent that this little Not-For-Profit needed to explore other funding streams to remain viable for our growing membership.
Unlike most membership organisations, GPTA Ltd t/as GPSA does not, and aspires to never, charge fees for membership or access to any of our support services, webinars, tools, or static best practice resources. Growing opportunities and services for our members is our focus, and no small amount of innovation has been needed to make this financially possible. The below audited financials for the calendar year January-December 31st, 2022 show the struggle of negative income in a time of increased wages, technological change as the world went online, and lost opportunity. By contrast, the interim financials for January -June 30th, 2023 suggest the shift to future-proofing this organisation and the community it represents, with additional revenue streams and new self-sustaining initiatives setting the tone for a more positive fiscal period in this calendar year and beyond.
