Registrars must be either full time or part time, casual employment is not an employment option.u00a0 Registrars must be employed; they cannot work under a services agreement.

A full time registrar works 38 hours per week and part time is less than 38 hours, this includes in-practice and educational release.u00a0

The in-practice hours include:

  • patient consulting time

  • practice based teaching time

  • home visits
  • nn
  • hospital and nursing home visits including travel time
  • nn
  • paid administration time.

Part time registraru2019s pay and leave are pro rata, meaning proportional, based on a 38 hour week. If someone is contracted for 20 hours a week, they are entitled to two weeks annual leave per six month term, which is two weeks paid at their normal hours of 20 hours per week.

A full time registrar would be paid for their normal week, 38 hours.

Educational release and teaching time must still meet the training provideru2019s requirements. A full time or part time registrar will need to meet the formal teaching time requirements for their training level regardless of the number of hours they are contracted for.u00a0

Educational release is similar. If a registrar has to attend two full day workshops per term as a training program requirement both full time and part time registrars will have to attend both workshops.u00a0
